Thermaltake Coolers
One of the better notebook coolers that I got to test was the iXoft Notebook Pad from Thermaltake, which I really liked.
This iXoft Notebook Pad is made out of fabric and has a crystal inside it that takes the heat from the notebook. These crystals melt at a very low point, of only 33 degrees, so when the laptop is on top, they melt. When this happens, the heat is pulled away from the pad's top.
This type of notebook cooler allows you to work with the laptop on your lap, watching movies without feeling any heat from it. As I tested the Thermaltake iXoft Notebook Pad, I noticed a decrease in temperature by about four degrees, both when I worked at a desk and when I had it on my lap.
I've tested my share of notebook coolers so far, and this model is by far the best one I've seen. You can travel with it easily and you can use it on surfaces that are not even.
What I especially enjoyed about it is that it doesn't have any fans and it doesn't need any energy to function. It has the great advantage of not making any noise and not occupying one of the USB slots.
